Having fun in New Orleans
I chow down on a world famous New Orleans beignets
(pronounced Ben-yays),a type of doughnut, and a cup
of coffee mixed with chicory. During WWII, chicory
was considered to be "ersatz coffee", or a substitute
for the real thing. Bart and Clayton relaxing
behind me.
We had the beignets and coffee at the "Cafe Du Monde"
near the French Market. It was established in 1862.
The floor is covered with confectioneer's sugar around
each table from all the beignets served.
